Evaluating the Standard of Care by Property Owner

Fiebig Architecture was hired to assess the concrete landing outside of an entry door after a slip and fall injury.

The occupant of the building had stepped onto the concrete landing to reach the electric breaker panel mounted on the wall next to the door. As they reached to open the panel, however, the occupant lost their footing and was injured in the resulting fall.

During the course of our investigation, we used a combination of historical photos as well as an inspection of the current premises. Our documentation concluded that the property owner’s failures to comply with the jurisdiction’s property maintenance code contributed to a dangerous and unsafe condition that caused the fall and resultant injuries.
